Carousel of Time

30″ x 40″ x 1 1/2″

When my son was ready to begin college and my daughter high school, I found that I couldn’t keep the song “Circle Game” by Joni Mitchell out of my head.  It was on a constant loop, sometimes without even realizing its presence.  I could feel that it was meant to be an inspiration for my next canvas.  Since over the years I had saved many lids that were just waiting to be painted and utilized, it was a perfect match and I began.
This canvas was extremely fun and also cathartic to create.  It includes many hidden (and some not so hidden) nods to the song,  items that belonged to my kids when they were growing up, and even colors and designs that were inspired by one or the other.  The big “carousel of time” does spin, and in the center is an old scratched up watch head that belonged to my son.
To complete this canvas, I used an unending amount of materials including but not limited to: paint, a variety of different lids, cups, glitter, buttons, pom poms, cd’s, tea bag tins, paper towels, dried paint, gems, empty spools, magnets, little tires, spinning carousel, watch, beads, and washers.
This canvas is not for sale, but please contact me if you would like to commission a similar canvas with your own personal items included.
All colors and designs wrap around the canvas.
