Hi!  My name is Laurie, and I am a Mixed Media Artist in Colorado.  While I have always loved colorful and textured art, it wasn’t until seven years ago that I began creating my own.  Almost immediately, I discovered a passion within me that I had never known existed.  I found that when I could quiet the ideas, judgments, “shoulds” and “that’s too weird’s” in my mind, I could freely explore and intuitively create. That is what “Free the Paintbrush” is all about. It’s about shutting down any plans or fears, and letting what is meant to be come through. It’s about letting the paintbrush (or whatever is being used) be free to create.

In my exploration, new techniques are discovered each day. I utilize a wide variety of materials, anything and everything that I can find. I use recycled materials as well as sentimental personal items.

From the paper towels that I use to wipe my brushes on, to the dried-up paint found on paint tubes … nothing goes to waste.

To me, EVERYTHING CAN BE ART, EVERYTHING CAN BE BEAUTIFUL!
