Life’s Tapestry
36″ x 48″ x 3/4″
This extremely colorful and textured canvas was a lot of fun to create and took about eight months to complete. There are many layers beneath the finished product that I kept painting over. When I covered it in white to begin again, I randomly picked up the end of a paintbrush and began etching shapes. The canvas was so bumpy at this time that I never knew where the lines would be drawn. I got in a zone and did them all over the canvas where the white paint was thick enough to make a line. The spaces where it wasn’t thick enough got left alone, and became the larger areas that you see in the finished product.
I ended up etching a map so to speak that I filled in using Acrylic paint and a wide variety of materials. I tried to use one other medium in as many sections as possible, such as: buttons, glitter, paper, pom poms, beads, gems, shells, dried paint, cardboard, felt, netting, q-tips, etc… All colors and designs wrap around the canvas.
